Explosions over Puerto Vallarta

It happens once a year and those who have seen it say it is unbelievably spectacular. I'll let you know if that's true at the end of the week because this week, I will see it. I'm talking about the 11th annual International Fireworks Symposium which began a five day run yesterday in Puerto Vallarta.

Each day this week, the world's top fireworks manufacturers from China, Italy, Spain, the US, Mexico and elsewhere are meeting at the Sheraton to discuss new pyrotechnics technology . Each night this week, they'll show off what they're talking about. Three huge shows are scheduled for every night except Wednesday ... each show lasting several hours. Last night, the explosions began, lighting up the sky over the bay with what looked like bombs bursting in the sky and surface to air missiles.

As we drove through town, trucks full of mortars and miles of cable are being unloaded. From our home, we can see a big burning man type structure being erected on the playa along the Malecon, filled with explosives. On the beach in front of the Sheraton, a large bunker has been moved in.

If you'd like to escape for a few minutes and see what's going on in the skies over PV this week, click HERE. It's a blast.
